Meet Morgan

Morgan J. Nickles was born and raised in Chicago, IL. She’s a devoted mother to a teenage daughter, writer, painter, and, above all, a servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Although she was raised in a non-Christian household, a great moment occurred in her life that led her on a transformative walk toward faith in Christ.

Morgan has been part of several projects including being featured in a short film in 2020, the independent publication of her first book in 2022, and participated in solo and group art exhibitions for several years, all of which centered around the themes of identity and freedom. She wanted to remind others that freedom exists beyond suffering and to encourage them to persevere, because freedom was on the way. Initially, she stressed freedom through the power and knowledge of the individual. But after the publication of her first book, she had an encounter with God and her eyes were opened. She learned that true freedom comes from faith in Christ alone and that failing to fully align one’s life with Scripture can lead to a persistent bondage mindset. She is now led to point individuals, both believers and non-believers, to the only one who can release them from bondage, which is Jesus. This message is evident in everything she’s doing, including in her writing and paintings.

Waiting Area is a space for examination as Scripture teaches us to examine our hearts and thoughts according to the word of God. The apostle Paul states in the second letter to the church of Corinth, “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves” (2 Cor 13:5). While many wait on the Lord, our hearts remain uncertain and faithless. Additionally, we avoid looking to Jesus because of what His light will reveal. It is in this revealing that we learn who we are in Him. We must use these moments to seek Him as waiting doesn’t mean to do nothing, but it calls us to walk boldly and courageously in the Lord, fully trusting in Him with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Since becoming a Christian, I have been led by the Holy Spirit to fellowship with my brothers and sisters in the faith through Bible studies, Sunday school, church services, and even in conversations. Yet, while in those spaces, grief came over me so much so that I wept and prayed earnestly. There’s a great deal of suffering in the church as well as a lack of belief among believers, an absence of true reverence for God, and arrogance that fills the hearts of those who profess faith. I am concerned for us all. To witness believers in such conditions, being fed false doctrines that keep them deceived and in bondage, it’s no surprise we struggle to preach the good news of Christ to unbelievers and fulfill the Great Commission commanded by Jesus. There’s power in the name of Jesus, but somewhere along the walk, we’ve lost faith to even believe that people on the streets can be healed in His name. Scripture tells us that those who persevere to the end will be saved. I want us to make it to the end. But to do so, we must return to Scripture and fully live out God’s instructions as we prepare for Jesus’ second coming.
